Getting less and less! Shroppie one of the few left (incl Golly). Middlewich was down a couple of feet yesterday morning between locks 72 & 73.

Doubt it. The flight has been closed since early August, due to lack of water resources. The boater who took the photos played with the gate mitres on the leaking locks and levels have increased to 18-24” this morning.

Thought for the day. If @CanalRiverTrust hadn't depleted CSF numbers #boaters wouldn't travel (unnecessarily) thru lock flights on #ukcanals in order to reach them. Which in drought situ has exasperated lack of water. Pity noone at @CRTBoating actually considered this might be a problem 🤔

Any comment on the behaviour of the canoeists? Were they under any kind of supervision?

Apparently it resulted in the first public appeal of the ‘newly formed’ C&RT, to raise the £1.5 million needed for repair.
