I joined Dan Seljak for a coffee at a neighborhood cafe (that would currently be banned from opening in Toronto) to discuss how local retail like this, along with grocers and convenience stores, contribute to our quality of life.

Streetcars are supposed to come every ten minutes or better. But arrival is highly erratic.
How do we change this? By getting private cars out of the way.
The average car has just one person in it. And is almost never full.
The average streetcar will hold over 100 people several times a day.

For people who live in Beaconsfield or along Dovercourt, these are the people claiming to represent you to city council. They hate Dovercourt and your neighbourhood and want the restaurants shut down.

How it possible that Jamaal Myers has taken no accountability for things like this? A true failure of leadership with 60% reliability is insane!

Connecting Esplanade to Adelaide via Yonge Street, protected cycle tracks on that section of Yonge Street would be awesome!!!

Torontoβs Cycling and Pedestrian Projects Team continues to hit it out of the park. Out for a ride today and hereβs just some of the new cycling facilities that I came across. New concrete planters and permanent curbs on Harbord Street. /1

The main reason city streets are dangerous for children isnβt because of crime.
Itβs because of cars.

the waterfront is terrific, we are so lucky to have it and, every year, more and more of it is open to the public, more connections made, new promenades and walking areas, its one of if not the best urban waterfronts in the world in my opinion!

I tried to explain this to fellow bike ravers, but was met with blank stares. Some people just want to have fun, and not everyone thinks it is fun to muse about the public realm. It's a good lesson to me on having friends outside the urban/architecture bubble.

@buildtoronto.com this is a great start! lots of great ideas here. The only change to make is the arterials policy. At a minimum, if your not going to advocate for bike lanes there, you have to advocate for bus lanes/transit priority lanes.

Was great to chat with Toronto-St. Paul's Councillor @joshmatlow.bsky.social about pedestrianization & intersection scrambles!
