The fact that something like Hatoful Boyfriend and MM would not be considered otome today with the genre definitions getting so strict is a bit crazy too.

Feel free to vent. The whole situation been crazy to watch, as someone who has known of the genre existence ever since late 2000 to early 2010s when the community's presence was mainly not very known outside of Renpy hobbyists and Visual Novel nerds.

But anyway It's amazing how people will claim to not be TERF but parrot TERF rethoric 1:1. Oh well.

The whole Adobe thing is so funny to me. Oh it's absolutely HORRIBLE, don't get me wrong, but there's entire animating schools that taught people how to draw using ONLY Adobe Animate, & some guy flipped a switch & went. "Lol, no refunds". Like at some point you have to laugh at how evil that is.

Nowadays I don't support any otome games unless they show some proof they are queer safe.

Cheritz is fortunately, safe, but alas, a hot mess and not fully consistent with their ideals.

*By Another Story not being thematically coherent I mean it's frankly a mess and V route and Ray route are outright contradicting each other lol. A Rika route would not go against anything at that point, the fandoms hate boner was infuriating.

And most routes conclude with dismantled Mint Eye because V convinces Rika to go away from everything and everyone with him. Completely isolated, only relying on V to survive.

The issue with V's love is that (besides Cheritz stance that it's not the best because he is insecure and hates himself... I guess) is that he wants to isolate Rika from EVERYONE. He doesn't want anyone to know how she really feels or what she is doing.

She was planned to have a route but it was canned because the fandom misogyny was HUGE back then and they'd booo the creator on interviews any time she'd mention it.

I agree the game feels incomplete without a route for her... Its not like Another Story is very cohesive thematically

LoL this is the post that made me play Soul Of Sovereignty in one sitting because it seemed to imply Pluribus is similar to SoulSov.

It's kinda not but it was awesome anyway. I hyped it up to my friends because it's such an underrated gem of a VN right now. Why aren't more people talking about it😔

By the way I loved Soul of Sovereignty a lot! It's one of the best Visual Novels I've read.

Rpgmaker.net coming back online is very significant, as a whole generation of 2000s and 2010s indie games was contextless and nearly lost without it.

It's wonderful to see it back in action. Hopefully to stay!

We rarely get anime that looks this bad anymore. We're so caught up in anime being "taken seriously" that we've lost sight of how low budget productions are really, REALLY funny. You can pause metal jack at any moment & it'll always look goofy as fuck. I love that.
