When a politician dithers over questions about trans people that’s when they’ve lost credibility with the trans community.

Fairly sure the group involved here also protest outside the homes of migrants and were outside the home of a family friend. MLAs outside Alliance who talked about legitimate concerns when protests happened aren't mentioning that today.

I went to school under Section 28 and there were no LGBTQ+ people in my year.

Which is an insane thing to say as just statistically *of course* there were, and clearly they just didn't feel safe being publicly out.

Not to mention I was so repressed it took me til my 30s to accept I was bi.

My family were very religious and I also grew up under section 28. It took me til my 30s to realise/accept I am bi.

But my own internalised stuff has never led to me ignoring the science and it didn't stop me accepting my trans kid.

For the record my trauma was not because I am trans, all this was because I was not allowed support of self expression because I wanted to be seen as a girl.

Everyone else around me got to experiment and be encouraged but I wasn't allowed.

Being trans is not traumatic, not getting support is.
