As Nathalie concluded:

These risks have now been recognised in the UK government's National Security Assessment which identifies global biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse as a critical threat to national security 🚨

The UK Government has just released a report that, if taken seriously, should transform how we think about climate, nature and security
🚨 Its main conclusion is stark: global ecosystem degradation and collapse is a national emergency 🚨

🌱Complementary initiatives such as the Soy Moratorium have played a scientifically proven role in decoupling deforestation from soy expansion, and remain vital for protecting critical biomes such as the Amazon, as well as securing resilience for agribusiness itself.

💡Aline shared a critical message from her research - while Forest Code is an essential legal framework, it is not sufficient on its own to guarantee an agricultural production free from deforestation

The #SoyMoratorium is a historic agreement to combat deforestation in the Amazon.
Under this withdrawal, #ABIOVE member companies will no longer commit to avoiding purchase of soy originating from areas deforested after July 2008, relying instead on compliance with Brazil's #ForestCode.
