This legislation strengthens tracking, improves oversight of those handling infectious diseases, and ensures deeper cooperation between all levels of government to keep our communities safe.

That’s why I’m proud to introduce the Preventing Illegal Laboratories and Protecting Public Health Act of 2025 to close regulatory gaps and prevent bad actors from taking advantage of our public health system.

During my recent tour of Exeter Cheese Company, I saw firsthand how small businesses fuel opportunity, pride, and community. Let’s continue to support them today and everyday!

That’s why I’m urging USDA to restore full bird flu surveillance and research programs to contain outbreaks and protect producers, workers, and families.

California’s poultry and egg industry supports over 120,000 jobs and nearly $121 billion for our economy. As avian flu cases rise heading into the holidays, our farmers are once again on the front lines.

When they suffer, our entire food supply feels it.

As I’ve said before, tariffs are a tax on American consumers and producers.

They haven’t just disappeared, they’ve shown up in our shopping carts. And with the holiday season now here, Valley families will feel it in rising grocery bills.

That’s why I am proud to co-sponsor the Restoring Food Security for American Families and Farmers Act of 2025, which would repeal these harmful cuts to SNAP made in the One Big Beautiful Bill.

These cuts will take meals away from millions of Americans—including seniors, children, veterans, workers, people with disabilities, and families—and will also harm farmers, ranchers, small businesses, and grocers who rely on SNAP dollars.
