Yeah, I vote for hideous. You'll spend way too much time in character creation if you try to make them beautiful. The third option would be to randomize to get a decent face and then adjust to get the hair style / color and any other specifics you care about. What's your play style?

Honestly, I would work with a therapist on this type of concern if you aren't already. They won't make any decisions for you, and they'll help you define what healthy parenting means to you and help you evaluate yourself on those standards. Reminds me... Oh, I wasn't trying to talk down the idea as being unrealistic! I think there's literally nothing stopping us from implementing these types of services other than public support. I was only trying to share my own frustrations with how we treat those in need. 🥲

I love this idea, but I literally cannot imagine this happening in a society that uses hostile design to punish poor people for having very basic needs. I do hope society develops this level of compassion in the future though.

Some tips if you get your keyboard setup. You gotta remember the right romaji for a couple hiragana characters.

- を should be typed as "wo", not "o".
- は and わ are often pronounced the same but the keyboard will expect them to always be typed as "ha" and "wa" respectively.
- ん should be typed "nn"

Not sure what you're using to type, but you can add Japanese to most qwerty keyboards! I can type in romaji (both on my phone and PC), and it'll be converted to hiragana automatically. Then autocompletion can be used to convert the hiragana to katana or kanji.
