A photograph of a male Brimstone butterfly seen in side profile as it feeds on a cluster of white tubular flowers of Osmanthus, an evergreen fragrant spring flowering shrub. His bright yellow wings are closed forming a leaf shape and the delicate wing veins highlighted in the bright sunlight. The background is out of focus in mottled shades of green and white from the shrub that surrounds him.

Wonderful to see two beautiful male Brimstone butterflies on the wing yesterday, stopping by to feed on our Osmanthus shrub - this is a great early spring flowering variety that is being enjoyed by a whole host of pollinators! ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฆ‹
