Okay… I gotta mute this one. It’s getting a bunch of replies about how it’s not worth explaining true things because “the right is stupid”.

I want us all to reflect on the reality that calling working class Americans stupid only benefits people who stand to gain from a divided working class.

I *think* most of you know this already, but honestly, I'm not sure! Even as a science communicator I sometimes forget how in-the-weeds the words I've known for many years are to people who haven't dug too deep into molecular and cell biology techniques.

Transgenic means that genes from 1 organism have been put into another. We make transgenic mice to understand how genes influence biological processes. We make transgenic plants to make them more nutrient rich. We make transgenic bacteria so they make medicine for us. It's wide-ranging & v. useful.
