I propose a practical HS course like home ec or shop except it’s job skills.

How to apply, how to interview, how to negotiate.

But also how to defend yourself: how to document. What unions do. What your rights are.

This! Also add in how to tell how your company is doing, business-wise, financially, be it a public or private company. Like a micro-MBA, for employees. How to parse what executives tell you about company health and performance, even when they mean to tell you the truth.

Kids (the ones I know are kids) being obsessed with a mostly-music pop star is familiar and perennial in a way that I find reassuring, lately.

Say it again for the band directors from the west coast suburbs in the back. Marching when I was a kid was everything. The schools that march at all here are faint shadows of their former selves. Money doesn’t seem to be the issue.
