Twelve years.
Twelve years since I loaded a rig, since I pushed poison into my veins and called it living. I used to think I’d never make it out. I thought I’d die with a needle in my arm or in the back of a cop car. But I didn’t. Somehow, I didn’t.
I have 12 days clean today. But today I celebrate.

I didn’t write Ink, Blood, and Prayer to be pretty.
I wrote it because I was bleeding and needed somewhere to put it.
