Pakistan v Sri Lanka there in one of the best dead rubber games I’ve ever seen. Well worth watching the highlights.

Sounded like we should be pleased with a point from that. Was even nervous listening to that last 20. Much better game than the stinker they served up at PL.

He’s obviously a great athlete but I was thinking that having the same guy win at every distance says a lot about the competitiveness of the sport and how differentiated the events are.

Possibly both true but they’d impact other countries the same way? Brexit causing high paying finance sector jobs to leak into Europe would be my guess although that couldn’t explain the trend pre-2017.

Entertaining game and the Dons gave it a good go. Cardiff are a class apart in L1 - young, fast, incisive and committed. Colwill brothers are the best players we’ve played against, Bagan and Tanner also up there. Would wish you luck for the rest of the season but don’t think you’ll need it.

4-1 not a fair reflection. More even game than when they beat us 1-0 at PL. Thought we played some lovely stuff and could have scored 3 with a bit of luck. Only the second goal was down to bad defending, 3 quality goals and Cardiff threw their bodies in the way of everything. COYD.

Commentator said β€œJake Reeves is thrown on”. Don’t know why but he is just not a player who can be thrown on 🀣.

I think it is dropping reeves and putting Tilley and Nkeng on the wings. We are much more open but much more threatening. Agree if we play like this there’s no way we won’t win 4 or 5 more games this season, Cardiff are miles better than any other team.

Colwill’s coming off, good! His even better brother is coming on, fuck. Still hopeful we can score at least one more but feel like they likely will too.

Not sure where this care-free attacking football has come from and why I have never seen it at Plough Lane, but I’m here for it.

Yaaaaassss! Absolutely deserved that.

Damn that’s a pretty good goal. Shame as we’ve looked really good so far.

Free hit tonight against an excellent Cardiff team. COYD!

Amazing stat given how toothless we often look at home.

Yeah just give the ball to Nkeng.

I reckon he’ll keep to the previous rounds method, McDonnell plus starting senior players from Saturday’s bench. Might not be a bad thing to get Stevens some minutes, would be interesting to see him and Hackford together.

Thank you for posting. Seems like the right and only strategy is to tread water (which itself is a heck of a challenge) until some FFP rules are on the way.

Thought Tilley was pretty good today tbf. I guess the reasoning is we needed another left sided player so we can switch between 352 and 442. I’d prefer to have signed the left winger Bolton did though, he was excellent. Not the ponds we can afford to fish in though.

Agree I was quite encouraged by today’s match. We have to play like that against the weaker teams though, if we do we should survive but so far this season we’ve rarely managed it.

Trick is to break a habit of a lifetime and play like that second half against the teams around us in the league.

Playing really well now. Browne just fucked up shooting there though, hackford was unmarked on penalty spot πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Lucky to be 1-0 down. Bolton look like what they are - a team with some championship quality and we look like what we are - a team with some league 2 quality. They are excellent going forward but leaving some space so I could see us scoring πŸ™πŸ», if we can somehow stop them getting more. COYD.

James Tilley,
came to us from Wycombe like Al-Hamedi,
running down the left wing with his magic feet,
keeping us up scoring goals for you, and me, his name is James Tilley

Quite sad about this. He’s not played much this season and made a costly mistake when he did but he was absolutely brilliant in the second half of last season. Thought he was at very least a versatile squad player and great team man, shame we are so skint even that is unaffordable.

This thread responds to Prof. Christian Dunn’s Telegraph piece on #climate communication.

I argue it misdiagnoses public disengagement, underplays escalating scientific risk, & reproduces a media narrative that has actively shaped, not merely reflected, public resistance to climate action 🧡
