Seems like the kind of dumb mistake algorithms or AI would make, especially since it's not something that often gets translated from the spoken into the written form.

If I had to guess, it can't recognize the Midwest verbal tick of adding emphasis by un-wording words with a p suffix (see also: "ope"), and therefore thought I was calling the reader a "welp" and adding them to my non-existant hit list or something.

But that must NOT come at the cost of silencing underrepresented perspectives, or preventing underrepresented people from connecting with one another over shared frustrations.

Especially right now I think that it's important to let people love flawed works if it gives them some peace and centering to keep it together and remember their bigger picture through this chaotic moment in history.

If you care to know what book most recently pissed me off and for what reasons, contact me privately. I am EXPLICITLY trying not to yuck anyone's yum by naming names, because some of you whom I love dearly do happen to love that book.
