Let me rephrase my question: Could giving money to Edmund be considered harmful in any way? Is there any evidence that he spends his money in support of harmful political institutions, or personally acts harmful in the ways scumbags like JK Rowling do?

The Citadel of Song is fascinating to me. Here's one detail I find really intriguing:

The Sentinels were originally created long before the creation of the Cogwork Core, and were used to bring bugs to the Citadel. So there was a period in the Citadel's history where the Core was absent.

There's definitely plenty of complexity to the setting of skong. There are different factions like the Skarr, the Coral Tower, the Pinstresses, the Stilkin Tribe, the Jailer Flies, the Verdania Kingdom, the Wisp Thicket cult, and of course the Weavers.

But there are fewer god-like beings in skong

skong has mandatory encounters with the Chapel Maid and Shakra, and the first town has multiple NPCs that provide context for the setting. In contrast, Elder Bug, Sly, and Cornifer & Iselda don't have much to say about Hallownest as a kingdom. Hornet herself in HK is fairly cryptic at first.
