From what I understand that's basically what got the Islamic Revolution's foot in the door. Not sure everyone in Iran signed up for what it became after it succeeded, but it seems most revolutions are bait and switches in the end.

I've always found that to be a weird argument. Even if you ignore the camps, the Nazis were meticulous record keepers. Quite a bit of what is known about the holocaust came from their own records.
