Kigo – ε£θͺž In the realm of poetry, β€œKigo” refers to seasonal words that convey the essence of a particular season. These words add depth and vividness to traditional Japanese poetry forms like Haiku and Tanka.

Allow yourself to be stopped in your tracks by beauty. To watch the sun sparkle through the trees, to listen to the birds singing in the evening light.

Nature is still valiantly trying to reach us. We just need to stand still sometimes and let it all in.

Just Now

Just now, if I look back down the cool street of the past, I can see streetlamps, one for each year, lighting small circles of time into which someone will step if I squint, if I try hard enoughβ€” circles smaller and smaller, leading back to the one faint point at the start, like a star.
So many of them are empty now, those circles of roadside and grass.
In one, the moth of some feeling still flutters, unspoken,
the cold darkness around it enormous.

[…] a correct feeling for the natural tempo of every meter, or for what is called tempo giusto, is attained by diligent study of all kinds of dance pieces. Every dance piece has its definite tempo, determined by the meter and the note values that are employed in it.
