I don't understand what you're saying. My parents were not racist, and so I never heard it from them. Whereas my uncle and his friends were very racist, and said racist things out loud all the time. The racists weren't hiding it back then, either.

I think what's bothering me about all these statements I'm seeing from politicians that are variations of "Israeli hostages and Palestinians are returning to their homes, yay" is that Israelis are returning to their homes and Palestinians are returning to uninhabitable post apocalyptic rubble.

Absolutely fair, but I fear a lot of modern vampire fiction wants to have it both ways: pragmatic, realistic depictions of vampirism (and all the horror involved), while also emphasizing the usual "who are the REAL monsters here??"

Same thing for when they make vampirism a stand-in for marginalized groups. Vampires are undead stalkers of humanity! It's not racist to be wary of them!
