So worst my "happened to me": before there was Google Drive/dropbox, et al, I constantly 'ctrl-s'ed. I also had v4final, v4a.sent etc AND believed I was unlucky with tech, so had 3 backups. File, HDD1, ext hdd2, ext hdd3. I had the great luck that all my WD drives died in succession within 2 daysπŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

I, like many others, was intrigued by the book "Careless People" and about Meta's amazing Streisand effect. But holy crud, is this real? Is someone going to come with receipts that this was all exaggerated or that it is fiction? I'm only at chapter 5 and this seems... stranger than fiction. Wow 😲

The word "entitled" has so many of y'all confused.

There's a difference between:
"She is entitled"

And

"She feels entitled"

The implication of feeling entitled, is often that you are not entitled.

If you've paid into social security your whole career, you *are* entitled to benefits.

Amazon review of sugar-free gummy bears by "Luke" titles "See you in hell, Haribo Sugar-Free Gummi Bears". It includes text that tells the user's story in hilarious detail about the laxative effect of them, which he didn't know about. Luke is a great story teller and tells the harrowing story of having eaten quite a bit before going to class for a final exam.

Just an fyi, and you may already know, but it's a good idea to be mindful with sugar free gummies as they tend to have a laxative effect. I recently shared a hilarious Amazon review with someone who had the same idea. www.amazon.com/review/R2JGN... Added a preview for ya - recommended reading πŸ™ˆ

them and their fragility. Especially interesting in this specific context, that these same folks are almost kinda "hallucinating"/inferring things, based on a few sentences & examples. Sad how they spew bs & sit angrily in irony, ignorance and hypocrisy.
The talk is so engaging & interesting!

I just watched this great talk, and I might be biased (to not be an ass), but I found that the foundation & points of the talk were about how AI "thinks" or to Scott's point - doesn't, but rather interprets the data + input you give it. What some ppl focus on and get angry over says so much about

some helpful reminders:

-not all jews support israel
-criticizing israel is not the same as being antisemitic
-being pro-palestine does not equal being pro-hamas
-arresting someone for being pro-palestine is a violation of the first amendment
-violating someone’s first amendment rights is bad

At SXSW, Bluesky CEO Jay Graber pokes fun at Mark Zuckerberg with Latin phrase T-shirt | TechCrunch When Bluesky CEO Jay Graber walked on stage at SXSW 2025 for her keynote discussion, she wore a large black T-shirt with her hair pulled back into a bun.

at sxsw, @jay.bsky.team pokes fun at mark zuckerberg by mimicking a version of a t-shirt he designed for himself, which said "aut zuck aut nihil" (either zuck or nothing, like "aut caesar aut nihil").

jay's shirt? "mundus sine caesaribus" (a world without caesars).

Anyone who wanted their DMs open on Twitter (for commissions, requests, questions, anything) should go check this

You may need to switch to closed DMs before you re-open them, the setting has reverted back to Blue-only a few times if you switch it directly from blue to open

If folks don't feel safe (esp en masse as we're seeing here) then stuff is broken & ain't working and we need to work on fixing it right now. That may mean reaching out to others more experienced so we can gather more knowledge, collaborate, learn + take action to improve - transparency helps here.

Look at patterns of behavior as well as make sure our Code of Conduct and community expectations are broad enough to protect the folks most vulnerable to abuse and harm.
Did the mods give them a warning? Did they mention that action was taken, and why, to set an example for the community to follow?

I understand that sometimes we need to look at things on a case by case basis, because subtleties and context are generally important.
But bad actors tend to know how to toe the line to continue to be harmful in a way where "Technically" they aren't breaking rules.
This is why we try to (cont'd)

I'm also always confused on what to call them. I know them as "potlickers" from Dutch - but that could be a regional thing as I'm from Suriname and not the Netherlands.

Brooklyn Public Library Offers FreeΒ eCards to TeensΒ NationwideΒ Facing Book Bans in Local Communities Librarians and Teen Volunteers Spearhead Books UnBanned Initiative to Combat Censorship Brooklyn, NYβ€”Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is launching a new campaign today, titled Books UnBanned, to help teens combat the negative impact of increased censorship and book bans in libraries across the country. For a limited time, young adults ages 13 to 21 nationwide, will be able to apply for a free eCard from BPL, unlocking access to the library’s extensive collection of eBooks. β€œAccess to information is the great promise upon which public libraries were founded,” said Linda E.

Another reason why I believe librarians should run shit.

The Brooklyn Public Library will continue their free library card to any one 13-21 across the country. They may download any ebook in their catalogue even if it's banned where they are.

I want white ppl who I am interacting with to understand if you shove racism and reminder of antiblackness to me:

I’m taking it as intentional harm. I’m also taking it as you are new to allyship cause you aren’t thinking of the wellbeing of marginalized people

We do! You can now call your hospital and ask for an **itemized** medical bill. Many people report seeing their bills drop after doing this.

About half of all medical bills are estimated to have errors, and those errors often make things more expensive for patients - not less.

Had the same in MIA and some actually yelling "Uber?" Or "Lyft?" at me. It was unsettling - I asked my actual driver about it and it seems that some are using (fake?) accounts and accepting but not picking up ppl, and then drive others and getting paid "under the table". Idk how it works or if true
