and I manage just fine on Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr (for personal/fandom accounts) even Substack has been more engaging and I only post there 1-2 times a month but posting on bsky really feels like sending things into the void despite having the most followers here.

I don’t know if anyone even sees my stuff on here unless I include a hashtag (and I don’t like doing that because that mostly attracts bots and scam accounts) and it’s not a matter of me not knowing how to social media—it’s not enough people engaging with their own mutuals who don’t post daily

More often, it's female main characters who are labeled as unlikable main characters (because y'all know booktok loves a morally gray male love interest who commits actual murder and maybe war crimes) for not being demure, gentle, or sweet enough, too masculine, too brutal, too angry, too moody, too assertive, too b-tchy, anti-social, awkward, unattractive- essentially, main female characters who aren't Disney princesses.

Fictional characters, and especially fictional women, should be allowed to be imperfect, messy, and make bad choices with room to grow and develop as characters throughout a book. And I don't think unlikable qualities in a character make them unlikable as a whole-l'd argue that some of us actually like 'unlikable' characters because of those flaws. And, personally, reading about 'unlikable' characters who grow and develop throughout a book is much more preferable to me than reading about characters who are 'unproblematic' and never really change or grow in a book.

Aranea is a big crier, which I didn’t realize until going into this last edit. to be fair, she has good reason to cry about everything she does 💔 but she always lets herself cry and then pulls
herself together to keep going.

the trauma of accidentally 💀’ing her first love haunts aranea 10 yrs later

Ehren bottles every negative emotion inside and smiles/laughs every time he casually tells someone about his past trauma so they don’t feel too concerned….but it’ll all catch up to him one day and come out at the worst time 👍🏼

my boy has daddy issues x2 and that’s all I’ll say about that 👀
