He throws around a bunch of fancy terminology and elaborate argumentation about tariffs but can't interface with actual economic data that disagrees with his preconceived notion of what he WANTS the data to look like.

The stupidest part about all of this is the coalition that ultimately got him over the hump was comprised of your not exactly a bad person but isn't as smart as he thinks he is business bro friend, who works a white collar job - voting for him thinking he was going to be a good "economy guy."
