If it's not being taught in screenwriting classes as an example of how to derive drama from a character's predicament, it should be. Redford is magnificent, and he barely says a word through the whole thing. If you're not deeply moved by the ending, I got nothin' for ya.

If you're looking for something to watch in memory of the great Redford, my highest recommendation is his 2013 one-character tour de force, All Is Lost. Google it, it's streaming in a few places for free with ads, and I think it's included on Amazon Prime at the moment, too.
