Lake Matamuskeet in eastern North Carolina is a major stopping off point for migrating swans. If you show up at the right time, you get an incredible show.

We are total backwater by California standards 😂
But we are right at the edge of delta and there are national wildlife refuges for the migrating water birds

Our climate is similar to Spain - very very dry hot summers and mild winters.
We live not far from the river delta with big chunks of protected land for the birds to spend winter. And it looks like they are preparing to head north soon
