This confusing, misleading, pro-fossil fuel initiative would have:
– Made energy bills more expensive and raise costs for families and individuals living on low-incomes. It would prevent us from making our buildings more efficient.
– Reduced access to money-saving appliances and customer rebates

Remember this WA ballot initiative that narrowly passed in November, I-2066? In some much-needed good news, a successful legal challenge means it may not go into effect.

With all the attacks on science, proven solutions to climate change, and agencies like NOAA, it's important to remember that 66% of Americans support a complete transition to clean energy by 2050 (and 72% know climate change is real).

BP cuts renewable investment and boosts oil and gas in strategy shift BP slashed planned investment in renewable energy and said on Wednesday it would increase annual oil and gas spending to $10 billion, in a major strategy shift aimed at boosting earnings and investor confidence.

We also continue track industrial activity at Cherry Point to ensure changes to existing operations must reduce overall environmental impacts, risks and hazards to our communities.

RE Sources led the charge to enact Whatcom Co.’s first-of-its-kind protections in 2021: local land-use code changes that put conditions on refinery mods. and permanently prohibit new fossil fuel refineries, transshipment facilities, coal plants, piers, and wharfs in the Cherry Point industrial zone.

Whichever way the winds blow for multinational corporations, rest assured there will be no polluting fossil fuel expansions around here. We expect BP Cherry Point Refinery to continue on the path of investing in lowering emissions and making cleaner products, following state and local laws.
