A collage of four photos from yesterdayβs walk. The first is a cluster of sulphur tufts, the second an innocuous looking but toxic Deathcap, the third a Fly Agaric, also toxic and the fourth Coral fungi looking as though it belongs in the sea.
After the disappointment of Wisleyβs Fungus Day being cancelled by Storm Amy, yesterday I had the privilege of doing a Fungus walk with Liz, the Principal Plant Pathologist for the RHS. It was so interesting and informative. These are just a few we spotted. π± #mushroomMonday #fungusfriends

Thank you so much Linda - I found you had put it on my desk for me when I was in the office yesterday. Very moved by this kind gesture and I love the intricate design. I will wear with great pride when I take the book on tour round the RHS gardens!

ππ± Gardens can be fungal hotspots β if we let them! In this blog for #UKFungusDay, Jassy Drakulic @jassydrak.bsky.social at The RHS explores how garden practices can encourage (or suppress) fungi & why that matters for #SoilHealth & #Biodiversity. www.ukfungusday.co.uk/fungiingardens

The Midas mushroom paper is out from the Pringle lab - the story of how cultivated fungi can escape and cause environmental harm.
We need more native fungal strains available for cultivation so home growers can grow without these risks

Do you grow Privet? RHS scientists want your help!
Privet is the #1 host for honey fungus root rot, but some species are worse hit than others. Help us with our research by completing this short survey:
