After the disappointment of Wisley’s Fungus Day being cancelled by Storm Amy, yesterday I had the privilege of doing a Fungus walk with Liz, the Principal Plant Pathologist for the RHS. It was so interesting and informative. These are just a few we spotted. 🌱 #mushroomMonday #fungusfriends

🍄 Of the roughly 1,300 species of fungi on the IUCN Red List, more than 400 are at risk of extinction. Threats include agricultural expansion, climate change and deforestation.

Marbled interior, smells sweet... Not a truffle, but a conker full of honey fungus!
This one was being used to test whether honey fungus affects ornamental grasses/wedges which have become popular horticultural plants
