I know your pain. I’m stg 4 melanoma w mets to brain, lungs, liver, bones. Many surgeries, 2 craniotomies & radiation. Treatment every 4 wks since March 2020. Opdivo Yervoy almost killed me. On Opdualag since 2022. $150K per treatment. It’s crazy stuff but I feel good & remain optimistic!💪

Hope your day went ok. I’ve had 2 surgeries for brain mets followed by radiation both times. There’s nothing like having your head bolted down to a table while being dosed with radiation! Terrifying and claustrophobic. Music was my salvation. Even had a brain radiation play list. So weird.

This is very sad. I’m alive today because of a new drug that came out in 2022.

Cancer research has radically changed how we all live with this awful disease. If you stop the research there is no hope for anyone.

Doesn’t matter who you voted for or how much money you have.

Couldn’t agree more. I told my family to never use those terms.

“Long slog”, yes, it is. I may borrow that.

Or to be more explicit… “the cancer was relentless & tore her body & soul apart in a slow torturous fashion.”

Being optimistic and joyful makes for excellent medicine. Not always easy when you’re going through the tough stuff.

Negativity will never make you feel better.

Unexpectedly lost a friend to cancer.

Her obit read, “after a courageous battle against cancer”.

Is courageous the right word? Is there an alternative?

As a stg 4 cancer patient myself, I’m very aware of my mortality. I don’t feel courageous, I feel like I have no choice.

The month that Covid “started”, I was diagnosed w #melanoma, had 2 big surgeries, monthly infusions & no family was allowed to be w me. Then my mom died that Dec.

Five years later & monthly treatments haven’t ended. Had 2 brain surgeries in ‘24. It’s been a LONG 5 years.

I truly get it. I’m stg 4 melanoma so my summer adventures are limited to the wee early hours or after dinner. Love to hike & bike but now need to cover up. My new normal—not as much fun but I’m still at it!

Thanks Grant. I live my life by ignoring my cancer whenever possible. We’re all on borrowed time so might as well enjoy every day. I’m lucky to be married to my best friend for 37 years & we still have a great time together.
