Found a groove and hit 73000 words today. With more coming quickly. I hope to have the main narrative finished by the end of the month and go into polish mode for November. If this continues to go well, I may have it ready for agent submissions by the start of next year.

1 year ago today, I became a father. My son is growing so rapidly, and starting to show his personality. He's such a blessing and always makes me smile. I look forward to years of catching, running, climbing, and everything else a boy brings. Happy 1st Birthday Corwin!

Arrest you without resisting the arrest. If you do nothing to hinder or help, then usually the police will just let you out later that day. If you do anything that "causes harm" to an officer, you likely will be charged.

Bogart crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. He was a 14 and a half year old Basset hound, and, perhaps, the bestest dog ever. I will miss his cuddles, bumps, lumps, wrinkles and drool. He climbed mountains, trotted through forrest, and waded through streams. He will be missed. :(

We are in the process of finding a new #place. Our current rental is nice, but for the price, we could buy our own house. It has been so much work, and thinking about the boy's needs has been a big reason why. Can't just grab any condo, have to think about location and schools.

One can list the monetary #cost of the bringing the boy into the world. Between IVF and hospital and baby stuff we are in the 10s of thousands. But the value of that expense is so beyond the cost that it is the best value ever!

I never expect to make a dime in my slow writing. I'd be happy if it is good enough that a dozen or so people read it. The story is in my head and I need to tell. It's why I keep at it no matter how good or bad it is.

Had this problem with a dinner scene till I figured out what the character needed to learn. This one is meant to do some world building and character back story. I just hate info dump chapters.

Geh currently stuck. Between the boy, work, and a major purchase my writing on this scene has stalled. I know I need the scene, but not sure what it is about. Needs to be a developmental point for the main character, but don't want to fall into pure exposition.

Guess it's time to map.

Watching THIS weekend approach I realized I was distracting myself. Holding my breath to see if the rumors end up being true. I'm not sure what happens this weekend, if anything. If it does, then this is the swan song of the Republic, and the rise of the resistance.

Being a new parent really changes your #customer profile on Amazon. I went from seeing video games, computer stuff and home improvement, to seeing children's books, baby clothes and breast pumps. Such a strange shift in proffered goods.

The #marketing for new parents is all aglow with soft lighting and smiling babies in soft jumpers. Giggling voices and ticklish feet. They don't show you the 3 am wake ups to a screaming angry infant, who wants food now. Or the dark circles under the eyes. Guess that doesn't sell.

Being a newish (8mos) dad at a ripe middle age, creates a lot of #pressure to make sure I raise the boy right. To ensure I take my half century of experience and package it up for him to learn from. To have an even and understanding hand as he grows and learns and becomes a full person.

Frank hunkered down behind a low pile of stone. The #pressure from the Frasiers on the right flank was beginning to have an effect. "Sergeant, move second and third squads from first platoon over to support third on the right. We'll try and do a swing gate maneuver and outflank them."
