Precisely! Practicing the basic shapes before drawing the final line (even if it's in the air, close from the page) will help tighten the stroke. You can do it /o/ keep 'em coming, have fun!

First ever attempt? It's really good! You got all her features down and recognizable. :)

As for tips, I'd suggest making smaller sketches first (no need to fill a whole page at once with one drawing when you cna do it with many) to gauge proportions and shapes, and then jump big! Keep going :D
