East of Lititz, Simon Eichenberg (1848-1918) owned this store for many years in Millway, offering his customers a full line of household goods. Today, this building still stands, and is a private residence.

Designed by famed Lancaster County architect C. Emlen Urban, the Lititz Springs National Bank, located at the corner of East Main and South Broad Streets in downtown Lititz, opened for business on March 22, 1924. The project would take two years to complete.

To celebrate the end of World War One, In November of 1918, Lititz held a Victory Parade up and down the streets. Seen here is one of the many floats that was part of the the celebration - an automobile sponsored by Meiskeys & Sons Cigar Company.

Before the Lititz Post Office was built in 1940, this structure, located at 74 East Main Street, was situated in the same spot prior to construction.

Comprised of a corn and wheat substitute for coffee, Vescor was created by the Household Manufacturing Company of Lititz over one hundred years ago. In 1915, this 18 ounce box sold for twenty-five cents.

Seen here is an early 1900s view of a family out for a β€œjaunt” around the countryside. When this photo was taken, they were traveling through the small hamlet of Pine Hill, which lies just northeast of downtown Lititz.

1910 view of students from Huber's New School, which was located east of the intersection of Brunnerville and Newport roads. This was actually the SECOND Huber's school. The first one was located at 612 North Cedar street. In the photo pictured here, Brunnerville road can be seen in the background.

In November 1918, a Victory parade took place along Main street, celebrating the end of World War 1. It was a huge event for downtown Lititz, as hundreds of spectators came out to see bands, floats, and veterans march by.

Seen here is the 1927 Boy Scout Cabin, which for many decades stood at the top of the Lititz Springs Park. The structure, which was used solely for storage in its most recent years, was in such a state of disrepair that it was deemed unsalvageable and dismantled in 2012.

On April 22, 1949, Weaver’s Restaurant opened its doors. The beloved restaurant was located across from the train station along North Broad Street. In 1963, Lester Bingeman would purchase the building and open it as Bingeman’s Restaurant.

During the early part of the 1900s, cigar making was a big industry throughout Central Pennsylvania. Shown here are the employees from the John Evans and Son cigar manufacturing business, which was located at 64 North Broad Street in Lititz.

Happy Headline History Day!

On August 15, 1945 - 80 years ago today - The Lititz Record Express newspaper ran this front cover. This headline is considered to be the largest ever in Pennsylvania, and perhaps the nation.

Shown here is a 1930s view of the Warwick House, which was once located at 104 N. Broad Street in Lititz and first opened in 1809. During the time this photo was taken, C.M. Snavely ran a gas station on the left side of the structure, and featured gas at six gallons for a dollar!

Remember When? In May of 1999, the Lititz Welcome Center officially opened to the public. The structure was modeled after the original passenger and freight train station which occupied the same space between 1884 and 1957.
