But it also hurts me to know that I'll be another friend that's leaving her, because she's my friend and I don't want her to be hurt.

But anyone who can look at what's been happening for two years and cheer it on... I cannot be their friend.

I don't think that it's something I can bring up. She spoke once (in a group setting) about her depression and that she's lost a lot of friends because of her faith, which I thought (naively) that she meant actual antiSem!tism, not antiZ!onism. But now I know that's not the case.

And I don't know how to reconcile that part of her with the person who is my friend.

Because to me, being Jew!sh and being Z!onist are not mutually inclusive. But for so many, they are. And I wish I knew how to move forward with still being her friend. But I honestly don't know that I can.

And she's Jew!sh, which obviously isn't a problem for me at all whatsoever; it's a big part of her identity-- it's her faith and her community and her support network.

But.

The other day I found out that she is a staunch Z!onist, too.

So I made a friend through my cancer support group. And it's been great, because everyone knows how hard it is to make friends as an adult, and she's awesome, smart, vivacious, and *gets it*-- our shared experience and what it's like for us.
