Eerie scrolling past this in my newsfeed. My friend Johnny was in the same battalion, and died following injuries sustained on 13th July.

It was such a tough listen. I lost a friend to the conflict in Helmland and well remember sitting at the foot of the cenotaph in the middle of the night the day I heard the news.

Jonny had a good civilian career before he signed up, but he insisted he wanted to do something that meant something.

Good to know my friend died “a little back, off the front lines” when he was blown up by an IED in Helmland. Prick.
