Long-running IPs like Stargate worked because audiences trusted they would be allowed to grow. Today, great sci-fi and fantasy are cut before they can breathe, all for short-term metrics.
We are not “losing interest” in new shows.
We are being trained to stop caring.
When a series is cancelled after 1 or 2 seasons with a cliff-hanger, it does not just end the show. It kills trust. Worldbuilding becomes pointless. Character arcs mean nothing. Rewatch value dies.
