Tremendous piece on a subject most Irish people never even give a thought to, but has huge impact on so many immigrants’ lives. Please read and share #speirghorm

Coming in November from @brisunipress.bsky.social, In the Aftermath of Empire explores the impact of British imperialism on gender and sexuality law in four jurisdictions.

Outrageous. Irish households are paying some of the highest electricity bills in Europe, while big tech companies get a free ride from their mates in government.

I love Anne Enrights writing.
24.02.2026 18:56 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I had counselling today and, I feel really dysregulated after. It's really difficult work. I feel like I want to run away from myself but unfortunately I cannot because i'm attached to myself. I wish I could climb out of my body and go somewhere but i'm not sure where.

Sometimes the best urban solutions are right there in front of us
Sometimes we might have to remove the barriers so everyone can see them

I'm seeing loads of houses for rent on Daft from March 1st stating a one year lease. That would be illegal under the new legislation no?

I know, it's actually shocking to read but also depressingly it's not.

22.02.2026 20:52 — 👍 2 🔁 2 💬 1 📌 2FFS. Co living, a nightmare. Are single people infantalised? Or just conveniently as part of the manufactured housing crisis. Suspect both. People want to be independent, live privately and if they choose to live with someone that's their business, I mean family. #speirgorm

Loving the threads but 'diversity' so often doesn't include #disabled people.
"Body diversity has made a comeback at London fashion week despite a wider shift towards ultra-thinness in the...industry."

I'll keep scouring images..

22.02.2026 21:02 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Literally just finished this earlier today, have been trying to finish it for ages, not because it's not good it's really good (so many really great Irish authors at the mo) but because it's just such tough subject matter, I needed to kind of take breaks between reading it.
