I appreciate the support of other writers that I look up to like yourself! I think this fandom is so much more chill about this sort of thing than others and it's nice to see.

I appreciate your responses, I do think "no set dynamic" would work for some of my fics and I'll consider using it!

Thankfully no one has pressured me specifically, I think I need to remember that our corner of this fandom isn't the same as other fandoms... But yeah I'm not a fan of overtagging or using long gibberish tags so I didn't want to have a paragraph explaining things in the tags LOL

I saw a tweet with a lot of likes that said a fic hinted that the characters might switch so they backed out after reading thousands of words and they were upset about that 😵‍💫

Seeing that made me feel like it's just better for me personally to not assign top/bottom/vers tags

and back to my first point if the Shinra building was set on fire they obviously have their own materia to defend themselves but things would just be overall more chaotic if anyone could attempt that sort of thing imo.

in them and bones would heal the wrong way if not set. So it's not going to negate the need for medical expertise in more severe situations.

And for healing materia I've always seen it as you can't heal mortal wounds. Like maybe you can close a wound that would *eventually* bleed out if left alone but if they've been shot and are pouring blood and have seconds left it's too late.

I also think that wounds would close with debris still+

I think the higher level a spell is the harder it is to control, so Shinra tries to restrict use of mastered materia to highly trained personnel like Turks and SOLDIERs. It takes a lot to master a materia so I don't think your average Joe is going to get one to that level on their own anyway

I feel like FF7's story would kind of collapse if any idiot could pick up a mastered Firaga or Ifrit and completely burn down the Shinra building for funsies.

I see it as something anyone needs training in but some people have naturally affinities towards magic use in general and specific spells+

"It takes two seconds and is a nice courtesy to readers!" like actually no it is complicated in my specific case sorry. I haven't been deliberately leaving out the tags to piss people off, using tags in a way that is wrong is worse than not tagging at all imo

change how they are as a character but in the FF7 fandom I don't see this as much so top/bottom doesn't impact the story.

People acting like every fic can easily categorized into "top x bottom y" is also weird because how am I supposed to tag my NSFW fic that doesn't have anal, for instance

What's even weirder is a lot of modern BL does not fall into these tropes so I don't understand why people are clinging onto it so much.

I think some fandoms really do follow seme and uke rules so I get being turned off by having your fav in the "wrong" dynamic because it would completely

also the way some people involved in this discourse still believe that top/bottom preference impacts personality also makes me hesitant to tag it. 1. i thought we left that in the manga from 2+ decades ago and 2. i don't want you to make assumptions about my charactization based on a top/bottom tag

my fics are written for Me first and I want to see all of my favorites taking dick so here we are

and it's not just that I can tag everything as "vers x and y" it's that they'll only bottom in the fic but it's mentioned in passing that they're vers so people looking for them in both positions lose but people who want them to strictly bottom also lose do you get what i'm saying 😭

If you are curious about a particular fic before reading it I do not mind answering questions I just don't think it's a helpful use of the tagging system to have long descriptions about dynamics

In my attempt to go back and tag the fics literally only two of the eight I have posted were able to have clear Top x Bottom y tags and my WIPs are the same way. The majority had to have some sort of disclaimer after because it wasn't clear cut so the tags are pretty useless+

I hate discourse but I almost did go and tag top/bottom on my fics with all the discussion rn but the reality is that I pretty much always write my characters as vers even if in the specific fic they're only in one position. So in the end my fics aren't ideal for people who have strong preferences+

It's really upsetting... the complete lack of Genesis in Angeal's memories stings, especially now that we know we won't get an FS chapter featuring Genesis...

I'm going to assume the best here that they were going to include Genesis later but it had to be scrapped

It's not like they're pretending he doesn't exist - we got more build up to the scene where Seph calls him when he deserts in the new event. We'll probably get a conclusion to that at least

My complaint is the same as everyone else, the erasure of Genesis.

I thought they were leaving him out of Angeal's memories and visions to save his first appearance for part 3, but we're not getting a part 3 (I'm guessing the game may end soon, there's evidence these chapters were rushed). 😭

To say it without spoilers I liked the the parallels of what happens to Sephiroth in a similar situation when he has a friend in his corner vs when he is all alone.

Also pain. So much pain. This further confirms every bad thing we thought Sephiroth went through at the hands of Hojo was real

I have Things to say about those EC chapters but I don't want to completely spoil it even though it went almost exactly how I expected it would
