the thing I'm wondering if anyone's asked - does the bird like how your data sounds? does the bird have a motivation to improvise or to change it over time?

we might need to save the same data to lots of birds, or save lots of things repeatedly to the same bird to test for errors

there's also one called "Magic" which seems like TD but less insane. or Hydra if you like to type!

I learned Pure Data/GEM (aka free Max) out of annoyance when I was first getting into TD, it was great but YMMV getting GEM to work on newer computers, it depends on 32-bit OpenGL or something

also I think @magentaskull.bsky.social actually uses OBS in real time and may have more ideas!

yeah, I mean to be real tho, getting out of this came down to deciding what to emphasize. rn I try to keep the groove in the "larger" elements and have unpredictability in offbeats & less dominant sounds.

in the past I was worse at mixing, but I also wanted more chaos, so it came out more chaotic

from there it's smooth sailing into the trap of "hey what if I did something experimental with the kick too" 🫠

this is why it's so wrong to me when people compare ai to sampling, or collage, or having artistic influences in general. if you're an artist with influences you spend lots of time absorbing those influences, and you can share them with other people, most artists love doing that.

Anyone have examples of creepy streetview glitches? I'm making a collection for reference.

Here are a couple I’ve found.

a pig sitting next to a sleeping person in a bank of grass next to a road

a thin curly-haired dog looks towards an apartment complex on an overcast day. the image feels strangely overcast, grimey, and glowing

a strangely angled/segmented closet door with confusing perspective in an otherwise empty apartment

I started collecting some that are not so much glitchy as mildly haunted (last one is an apartment listing, also great for this)
