I’ve been talking about Alysa Liu’s story about her quitting skating only to come back and become even better because she did it for herself and this came to me in a dream…

How to stop a dictator I spent months studying how authoritarians like Trump lose. The answer is shockingly simple.

I have spent the past several months studying the cutting-edge research on modern democracies that have defeated authoritarian leaders.

I've learned that the conventional wisdom on the topic is wrong β€”Β in ways that have clear implications for the US going forward

Akinola Davies holding his BAFTA

Just realized it was Akinola Davies Jr., who is Black, who said "Free Palestine" at the BAFTAs.

So, the BBC will censor a Black man for saying something that is not violent, while also refusing to censor something that is quite violent to Black men.

Why telephone voice* polling has gotten *super* expensive and hard, in one graph

today.yougov.com/topics/polit...

* Most polls are still answered on telephones. Even panels are regularly getting majority responses on smartphones. Just not by voice to a unknown caller

I talk a lot about how lifting heavy has made me more assertive, stronger and all that jazz. It’s a bit tongue-in-cheek.

More seriously, the small improvements are the ones that have changed my life the most.

I can now do heel raises without support.

I don’t trip and fall as much.

Why The State Of The Union Boycotters Have It Right And what they can teach the rest of the party about winning friends and influencing people.

It isn't too late for more Dems to choose to boycott Trump's state of the union address. Not just to convey something negative about Trump, but to convey something admirable about themselves. www.offmessage.net/p/why-the-st...

Sometimes I wonder what my motivation is at this stage in my career. And it's this. Making sure small-minded men die mad about my inclusion. And propping the door open for as many smart and kind people as I can.

Trump Angered by Fresh Slide in Polls as Even Fox Admits He’s Tanking As Trump rambles bizarrely about β€œfake” surveys amid some really bad polling news, a political scientist explains how his flouting of the Constitution is directly linked to his cratering public suppor...

Trump cratering in new polls:

Among working class: 41-58
Independents: 26-73 (!!)

WAPO
Approval: 39-60
On immigration: 40-58
Tariffs: 34-64

Excellent conversation with @juliaazari.bsky.social and @gregsargent.bsky.social on the president’s tanking in the polls ahead of the SOTU address, and his comments - replete with weak, delusional denials about landslide wins, and a mythical silent majority who supports his lawless regime.

The victim was interviewed by the FBI four times.

The last time was the day before Jeffrey Epstein died

this is some bullshit. the Court is giving sovereign immunity to postal workers who allegedly engaged in intentional racial discrimination

Thomas's rationale is that you can't sue the government over lost mail, but there's a difference between mail that's lost and mail that's withheld bc of racism!

What Elon Has Done Elon Musk's destruction of USAID has faded from public consciousness in America, despite leaving death and destruction in its wake.

β€œWhat matters is making it clear that the people Musk has killed…had lives that mattered as much as yours or mine, and that gleefully snuffing them out by the hundreds of thousands is not a mere peccadillo, but a crime on the scale of that committed by the defendants at Nuremberg.”

Boycott Elon.

How Conservatives Gave Themselves Permission to Go MAGA

Ten years ago, leading conservatives came out β€œAgainst Trump” – but soon let their disdain for β€œthe Left” override all else.

It is the story of Modern Conservatism in a nutshell.

Some thoughts from my new piece:

Axios are implying "Democrats admitted Harris' stance on Gaza lost the election" & that isn't supported by specifics cited in the article. Support for Israel being a "net negative" doesn't mean a large net negative. Unclear if DNC said they lost "significant" support or if Axios editorialized that

Possibly. Hard to say without knowing what else is in there. It might be something on a different topic that’s making them not want to release it.

The State of the Union We Chose What defines the past 400 days is not just the stories of those this administration has deemed to be insufficiently American. It’s what’s behind them.

Tonight is the State of the Union. We know the first year of the Trump regime been defined by lawlessness, violence, and a craven desire for ever more money and power. @theringer.com.web.brid.gy looks at its impact β€”Β including here in DC.
