05.03.2026 02:52 β π 34 π 14 π¬ 0 π 0These are plots how hybrid workers who were Black and Asian that experienced racism during the pandemic felt about hybrid work environments. Workers in both groups felt more agency in general and around conflict, also more positive affect, in remote settings v. in - person.
Our second study found that, of those working hybrid, Asian and Black workers who experienced racial discrimination at work felt more agency, less negative affect, less conflict, and equal in motivation in remote v. in-person work contexts...

Our first study found that Asian folks working remotely experienced less discrimination than those who had to work in person during early COVID-19.

That got us thinking, did remote work protect some Asian folks from experiences of racial discrimination?
The answer from our work is probably yes it did!
I want to take you back, for a moment, to 2020. We are at the beginning of the pandemic and many of us are working remotely. I don't remember this time particularly fondly--this was pre COVID-19 vaccines, and there was a lot of rhetoric around how the virus had come from China. π§΅

Finally got to @gelliottmorris.com's piece this week on how poll question wording dramatically affects responses. It's excellent. This is classic stuff in the political behavior subfield of poli sci, but we don't hear enough about it in punditry.

βWe are in an undeclared state of war.β
After Mike Johnson says the US is not at war, and Donald Trump says it is, Lindsey Graham tells @premthakker.bsky.social a third answer: an βundeclared state of warβ β which, he suggests, allows the US to illegally strike ships in international waters.
The girlsβ school in Iran, where 165 people were killed by an apparent US-Israeli attack, was hit with two strikes, with the second missile killing sheltering survivors, two first responders and the parent of a slain child have told Middle East Eye.

I did not share the original story because my gut was that the sourcing was dubious. Someone who knows more about the sole source confirms that skepticism. Don't fall for clickbait, read the piece linked below.
(If the story is confirmed by other outlets, that's another thing. But ... it's not)
