Went to this very trippy gig on Thursday. The Johnny Halifax Invocation playing at St Giles Church in Camberwell. Fantastic musicians and a spectacular venue, not to mention real-time graphics made with oil and water. I'm new to the genre of psychedelic rock but after this I think I'm a fan :)

A certain dynamic should exist at all or be in a genre shows some ignorance to how these genre's are born.

Most modern day genre's came from a cool idea that resonates with people, that then has real thought put into it, and turned into something with a framework around it.

but I do think that there is some naivety in thinking that games shouldn't be built upon certain systems at all. if it's not your thing of course that is fair, but to say that you don't think-

The air, trivialising the difficulty of not only this enemy, but also all enemies around them, meaning some players can view it as 'Cheesy' which I can absolutely hear the argument for.

But it this line of thinking leads to a question, should all video games only include-

Now the only problem with this is that ultimately combos provide very little tangible benefit, in a lot of situations combos are not best means to taking out an enemy, and the few times they do help, it is because they let you juggle enemies in-

Modes, but also the players that do commit time often commit LUDICROUS levels of time comparable to live service games that have miles more content to consume.

Entirely because intrinsically that system has enough complexity and good enough feedback that the player is-

Something that Combos excel at, whilst obviously there's no objective metric that everybody enjoys combos, as this argument has proven, there is enough of an audience that does in fact believe them to be fun.

I think though that it boils down to how combos support the idea of Intrinsic rewards in games

Intrinsic rewards or better known as Intrinsic Motivation means how fun the game is to play in terms of raw feeling, is movement fun? is combat satisfying? etc.

Because at the end of the day it does bring up a good point that is what is the point of combos in action games?

Working on the game jam over the weekend was not the best idea... Maybe next time bring a laptop that actually has good battery if you're going to use it on the road.
