Remember a few years ago when they suddenly decided that any wrestling in the box on corners was a penalty? How long did that last?

Final thought on this Arsenal game... 11 games against top flight opposition for Rosenior now - not convincing in any and no discernible improvement or anything to cling on to.

Chuck the entire "project" in the bin if you have any ambition of being a serious club again.

So you can't take a team of young players (some good enough, others not) and expect them to become winners with none of that mentality around them.

Our recent managers are more bothered about pressing and building up from the back than they are about winning trophies and that's why they were hired

The ambition starts at the top and the ambition to win isn't there.

They didn't hire Brighton sporting directors because they were impressed with Brighton's trophy cabinet - they haven't hired Potter, Pochettino, Maresca or Rosenior because of their relentless pursuit of trophies either.

Unfortunately we were bought as a market opportunity and not to become a better football team.

The gulf between us and Arsenal is shameful, we turn up and lose to them now like we're Tottenham. Pathetic.

We won't be a proper team again until we ditch these Brighton sporting directors and get people that are ruthless. Giving people time is fine if you're confident they're the right person. We'd have all given Ancelotti as long as he wanted, for example.

If you're James, Caicedo, Palmer you're looking at someone who got the job because he knows the right people and not because he's absolutely elite. Players sense the lack of ambition and you can see it in the percentage drop off of all those players.

I think back to the successful Chelsea managers and they'd have been sought by all the top clubs at the time.

The 04/05 team talk about Mourinho changing their mentality and making them winners.

Maybe Rosenior could become that, but he's not someone that would've got a job at another big club

There's been so much waste at Chelsea. What you see on the field is so far from a £1.5bn team...BUT

They have stumbled across a few players that would play for any team in the world at the moment.

What they consistently haven't done is appoint serious managers that transform a team

He's just not suited to the PL at all and I feel sorry for Caicedo having to do his running for 2.5 years

When he first joined and played as the deep playmaker, he did actually spray the ball about nicely but he can't do it higher up the pitch or under any sort of pressure - a move abroad would suit all parties

Started on the left, lord knows, just galaxy brain stuff

Palmer on the left, lol why

It may have worked last night but they'll soon learn you need to make 100 sideways passes before you move forward

Carragher shitting himself about Liverpool not getting Champions league still seems to forget that, unlike at least one of their competitors, they've got a board and a manager that is willing to depart from their crap "principles" in order to achieve that gosl

The goal shows there's plenty of decent enough talent to produce better attacking performances, but the squad is also completely lacking in any sort of physicality to compete when it gets tough - well done WinStewart

On Chelsea yesterday, let's have it straight - after spending £1.5bn you should be out of sight at home to the team 19th in the table before the red card.

Having two shots on target in the match is simply shite and a symptom of safe possession and galaxy brain tactics that continue to plague us.

22.02.2026 11:15 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

And not filled out because they're all 19-21 so just get bullied in every duel

18.02.2026 11:46 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

But if he doesn't move and they bring someone worse in then any manager is going to continue to play Chalobah and he'll stay as long as he's playing

17.02.2026 14:57 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

Yeah but I think he does want to play, after all he took the loan to Palace - the move would have to work for him though, can't see him being sent to Strasbourg

17.02.2026 14:43 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

*only happen

17.02.2026 14:42 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

The only way he actually leaves is if he gets frozen out again but that can I lu happen if they buy two CBs that are actually better than him which they've shown no signs of being competent enough to do

17.02.2026 14:09 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 3    📌 0

He absolutely isn't better than Estevao and the other two are hot garbage so it's not much of an achievement

16.02.2026 09:04 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

He's definitely decent, but none of the best players have ever been completely written off by a manager. If he was that good, Amorim would've found a way to play him

08.02.2026 14:36 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

I'm not big on Cucurella he's a pretty limited player imo

Yes, I agree with not criminalising protest, but I don't agree with de-criminalising hitting police officers with sledgehammers. Maybe some nuance is needed.

Fair point, probably shouldn't be captain if he's not available half the time. Give it to Chalobah

04.02.2026 17:49 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

I just can't imagine John Terry accepting that

04.02.2026 15:58 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I like him more than the last bloke (even though he seems a wally) but I haven't seen any evidence of better football. Maybe he's just not had enough time yet - but equally stop over-complicating your football and maybe you won't need 300 training sessions?

04.02.2026 11:43 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

This is the part that concerned me the most. I get that he tried to take the game deep but then he just chucked on Palmer and Estevao with no plan to get them the ball. We prioritise safe possession over risk taking even when we're supposedly trying to win
