Work Text: Lucifer brushes shoulders with Chloe as they walk aimlessly along the beach. There are some rocks ahead, and as the Detective always needs a goal, however pointless, they are working their way towards them. It’s enough for him to be here with her—his feet in the sand, the smell of salt in his nose, and the sound of her laughter in his ears. Waves lap onto the sand, nearly wetting her sandals, as seabirds cry in the surf. The sun is warm on their backs. He squints behind his sunglasses, tipping his head to the sky, thankful for the light clouds providing some relief and protection from burns—though Chloe provided more in her insistence on sunscreen. He laughs softly to himself at the absurdity of the Devil needing protection from fire. A gust of wind eddies around them, ruffling the casual—though designer—shirt and shorts he is wearing. More absurd than sunburn is the wardrobe she insisted on for their weekend away. Lucifer tangles his fingers with hers and pulls her to a stop, lifting her hand to his mouth. He sucks on her fingertips, tasting the sea air on them.
