Guess so! I have tickets for Boston and for Montreal so far. (These tours seem to be getting closer and closer together! At some point will they not simply fail to end?)

I only just noticed that Giri Giri and Night Before the Exam are built on basically the same 3 against 4 rhythm. That is all.

But, point is, I don't know much about the recent generation of artists other than names in headlines that I wasn't usually able to match to songs I couldn't fully escape in public. Seems like BM has done a mostly good job of picking interesting collaborators, both in recording and in touring.

I was pretty up on the goings-on in the music scene until ~1993, but then kind of ignored everything until recently. I think I credit BABYMETAL with reviving my interest. They brought a reminder about what's good in metal. They had energy, without the darkness, an undercurrent of humor, deep craft.

BABYMETAL's collaborations often wind up being my first encounter with the collaborating artists. This was my route to Avatar, Polyphia, Electric Callboy, for example. Bekhauf itself has been growing on me, but even more so after I learned a bit about what Bloodywood are about and trying to do.

I also went to the Bethlehem, PA show, but had a seat at the front of the "right wing" deck a little ways back. It was fun—but being at the barrier in Charlotte was a bit more fun I think.

That was Charlotte.

In 2024, I was barrier, slightly left, and did manage to take a few photos. Here's one, that reveals my view. It's a wee little stage. Being at the barrier was totally worth it.

Bar has a "KARATE BASKET!" on their board for the evening. A brat on a bun with cheese. This was 2018.

In 2024, the bar had a "RATATA cocktail" (which I got) and a "GIMME CHOCOLATE" shot.

The bar next door to the Fillmore in Charlotte where the afterparties were in 2018 and 2024 did theme their menus both times, which was pretty cool.

The lore circle projected on the curtain, now back down, after the show was over. This was the very next photo on my roll.

I guess things are picking up here on bsky, so here are some of my BABYMETAL Charlotte 2018 (May 17) photos. I cleverly took a photo before the curtain went up, and the next one when the curtain was back down. Not sure these photos did their job properly in reviving memories.
