5 years ago, there were multiple gender clinics in Texas with large multidisciplinary teams of experts and supportive infrastructure for trans youth to not only survive but thrive. All of that has been completely stripped away in a campaign of hate. They don't want us to exist.

Texas AG Ken Paxton has declared that it is illegal for mental health providers and therapists to treat trans youth. It means that trans youth will be denied access to any mental healthcare that isn't conversion therapy. Paxton also threatens parents of trans youth with child abuse investigations.

I think this is one of those things that's stunning, in all the worst ways, and most of them aren't obvious.

Let's start with the basics: there are about 5.5 million trans Americans. This means that *nearly 10% of the entire trans population of the nation* has moved.
