Politics, campaigns, psychology, sportsball, root beer floats. The Great State of Minnesota. The Lynx were robbed. I'll try and do less stream of consciousness here, but no promises.

No post-Trump settlement can accept his regime as having been legitimate. Either because we have a republic again, or a new autocrat, or whatever else, but it isn’t possible to have a system that treats his actions as valid precedent after he’s gone. A personalist regime can’t survive the person.

Voters for this year's All-Defense teams are going to have to ask themselves just how many Lynx (Lynxes?) it's reasonable to include. #WNBA

Article screen capture reads:
We’ve also seen that this kind of thinking can work when Democrats do it. Last year, both the Democratic presidential campaign and the broader progressive movement took Project 2025 from a viral curiosity and turned it into one of the Trump campaign’s worst negatives. And right now, the party is effectively seizing on the Jeffrey Epstein saga, despite some initial hemming and hawing. Until recently, I ran into no shortage of people in D.C. who said Democrats should move on from the so-called Epstein files to β€œeconomic issues” β€” not recognizing that Epstein is an economic issue. It’s about elites doing terrible things and protecting themselves, a metanarrative that appeals to Americans’ sense that the system isn’t working for them. Social media messaging is as much about implication as it is the blunt statement of fact.

Last skeet(? bleat?) about the @robflaherty.bsky.social Politico piece:

OMFG YESSSS. Epstein IS a kitchen table economic issue. The whole sordid thing's a visceral, understandable proofpoint for how the ultra-rich no longer play by the same rules as the rest of us

Like this is a very good analysis of how a few hyper-motivated pundits were twisting the topline data, but lots of people who actually study public opinion were arguing against that. The pundits were just cherry-picking the data that matched their priors

I think we more pollsters and fewer pundits

Minnesota Softball Has A Title IX Problem | Defector On May 11, 2023, Ellerie Ulfers was pitching for Washburn High School against district rival Southwest in a varsity softball game in Minneapolis, Minn. The start time had been moved back 15 minutes, t...

This article shows an egregious discrepancy in Minneapolis with 48 baseball fields and just nine for softball. Girls HS varsity games have been stopped to allow men to take over the field. The current MPRB was responsive for a time but over their entire term have failed to solve the problem.

The Boy Genius Who Killed 14 Million Poor People What is the moral weight of responsibility for the men who carried out DOGE’s work?

i think i disagree with the idea that the ferritor should have been allowed to follow his own path during his schooling, neglecting assignments and being coddled for his apparent genius. i think, in fact, that this was the problem. www.thebulwark.com/p/the-boy-ge...

Diamond Miller will look real good in Dallas. Nobody hates young players (especially USA based ones) like Cheryl Reeve lol. But as a noted Carrington supporter, at least it’s a fun return.

The Lynx are winning by 34 points at halftime and only 4 points have come from Napheesa Collier.

Jessica Shepard is 6-of-6 on 2s
