On a positive note, now I've found out what a djellaba is....I heard the word in the song "Marrakesh Express" from the Crosby, Stills & Nash album and now I know what they meant! 😁

A lot of older folks on fixed incomes are wearing winter coats & other winter wear in the house and not using the heat at all. It breaks my heart. They can get special plans from PG&E, but from the sound of it, some can't even afford that.

In CA, many older houses lack insulation as we'd have to remove the old wiring in the walls & can't afford it. This winter I've been keeping my house at 60/61°, freezing my ass off, paying $400/mo! Instead of turning on the furnace, in the house I wear a long, thick wool djellaba, wool socks & hat.

I get it! I love almost every bean, but some of them I can't tolerate well. I cook them a lot because they're cheaper than meat ounce for ounce and they're a good source of fiber and protein.

The problem is that too many people associate lima beans with baby limas that are usually frozen & used in succotash. They are so bitter. Actual adult lima beans come in incredible varieties and they are delicious. Look at these puppies -

When I started drinking tea, being at the time an admirer of Japanese Zen, I drank steamed Japanese green tea. It was quite herbal and calming. Now I tend to drink malty Chinese black teas, but I do love jasmine green and many oolongs from green to red.

There's a persistent problem on the neo atheist side in which atheists set up a straw man definition and then argue against it, conveniently ignoring anything that doesn't already agree with their fairly limited understanding of religious traditions around the world.

And not all of those 4000+ religious traditions even *have* a Creator Deity. Moreover, those that do have one have significant internal diversity w vastly different conceptions of the concept of God.

I tried this! The thing that was tough for me to get past was the mix of the almost honeyed sweet/coumarin hay note w the tomato leaf accord. There was a sweetness that I could not put together in my mind. I liked Margiela's 'From the Garden' better. But the Corsica is a more artistic composition.

Spicy tobacco with fruit, saffron & some jammy jasmine - I super love Red Tobacco. It gets better & better over the day. Not too sweet, like so many tobacco scents that are almost cloying. It's deep & sexy, imo.

Seems like it's super popular & well liked. I tried and liked it a lot, but not so much that I needed a larger decant or bottle. It's very good & I think it's a great fragrance for everyday, and office & public safe.

I don't like pilsners (boring!) and prefer a lot of flavor. I still drink IPAs but only if they're under 6.5%. And so if I can find a good pale ale, balanced IBUs and no tongue coating bitterness, hazy or not, I'll go for that. But there are too few examples. I need to get back to brewing my own!

So interesting. I can say that what I've heard from friends as we age is that lagers are becoming more popular and we've moved away from IPAs because we've both tired of them and they are too high in ABV.
