I finished my second full novel manuscript. This should feel like an accomplishment, but after querying and failing to place my first novel, it doesn't feel like I've done anything at all. Hopefully these years of work actually lead to something

It feels even worse now that schools are careful about even saying "Diversity." I'm having to find roundabout ways to talk about inclusive practices, and that seems so backwards!

I'm going on the job market this year. It's been rough to spend entire days writing and rewriting one paragraph of my teaching/diversity statement, but the finished versions make me feel so good about myself as a teacher #academia
