Ferdinand gets off the ride and they both greet one another. Hubert picks up the Pegasus plush and hands it to Ferdinand who’s been carrying it for him. As they walk away from the carousel, the corners of their eyes meet, maybe it was nothing, their night carries on.

The carousel bell rings. The ride is over.

The next time Ferdinand can catch a glimpse of canon Hubert, he's kneeling on one knee. And the third, he’s lying on the floor struggling.

This time when he (we) see Hubert, a superimposed image of canon Hubert, blood on his face, losing his footing. The ride circles on before Ferdninand can spot what happens next.

Switch to Ferdinand’s view:
The ride starts moving. Ferdinand watches for Hubert who stands out from the crowd every time the carousel circles around. And every time, a man smiles silently (menacingly) by a Pegasus plush that Ferdinand won for him. He’s keeping it safe.

As he passes Hubert, this time a sudden scene of canon Ferdinand being gravely injured is superimposed. He falls off his horse.

Hubert continues to watch Ferdinand, they meet eyes and Ferdinand waves at him. Smiles. As Ferdinand makes the rounds on the ride, an image of canon Ferdinand riding a horse through a battlefield is superimposed intermittently.

Scene starts: The carousel bell rings. Hubert watches on from the crowd. The image of Ferdinand is superimposed with canon Ferdinand on a galloping horse holding a lance instead of a carousel pole. (neither character can see the superimposed image)
