2022-2025: England's Lionesses with female coach Sarina Wiegman, reach 3 finals in a row and win 2 of them.
The team are now idols to young boys and girls and inspire women across the country...
This battle isn't over
But my god
What a way we've come
LOVE YOU LIONESSES !!!
That is amazing and an absolute disgrace. Ostracising 50% of the population because influencers representing the opposing 50% were threatened by them. So glad to see the start of a level playing field for women in many sports. Thanks for sharing

She is one of the bravest people I know and she deserves better. (She posted this publicly on her FB page which is why I'm sharing publicly)

Strike day 4: A big day, in which a lot happened, but this was the absolute highlight. If there is a conscience of the Guardian, it may be Gary Younge. He made this speech, off the bat & nailed it. We are the true spirit of the Guardian & Obs. And we are here fighting to save our news org.

In case anybody is wondering why Guardian journalists are not replying to work emails or posting as usual.
We are striking for the first time in 50+years over the planned sale of our sister paper, the Observer.
More here from the NUJ.
Met up with fellow Poolbeg author Florence Gillan for a chat this morning in Newry. Great to share our experience of writing and getting published!

My favourite book this year was "Ghosts of a Family" by @edwardburke.bsky.social, which looks at the McMahon murders of 1922. Jason Burke discusses the book with Edward in his latest podcast - well worth a listen and I thoroughly recommend the book too! ๐ง๐

Last night, we won the Aisling Award for Environmentalism. Our tiny community garden in inner city West Belfast was recognised for what we're trying to achieve. We didn't expect to win so no prepared speech as you can tell. Onwards ๐ฑ๐๐

23.11.2024 12:57 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Published photograph captioned 'Bristle-Pickers'. It shows a woman sat at work making brushes at a small table. Four children are also close by her in the room, at least one is also helping with the work. The room is decorated with floral wallpaper and has crockery on hooks on the wall. Another table, with bowls and plates on, is in the room. A window is on the left, with a ragged curtain tied back. Two pictures are on the wall, they include the captions 'God Bless Our Home' and 'A Merry Christmas'.

Here's an insight into the building of our community garden. A "before and after" with some of the crops we've harvested and the craic we've had along the way. When we built the space, we built friendships and relationships. This is possible everywhere ๐ฅ๐ค Go plant some seeds ๐ฑ

Here's an article I wrote for the Irish Times a few years ago,
looking at what archives tell us about ourselves and the not-too-distant past.
You can go to many countries in Europe and see how, even after war, they have retained or reconstructed many beautiful buildings such as Belfast once had. Here we just knock them down or don't rebuild them. It kills the character of the city. It's extremely short-sighted.
