Each year our cooling bills get bigger. Now on top of that, the "Big Beautiful Bill" is set to make our bills even more expensive. 37% of lower-income people have been unable to pay at least one energy bill. In Nevada that could have deadly consequences.

These out-of-control immigration raids are not just hurting Nevada families, they are hurting our economy. When people feel like they need to carry their child's birth certificate to be in public, a lot of times they are just going to choose to not patronize local businesses and stay home.

As our climate continues to warm, we must take proactive steps to protect residents from heat, especially in a desert city like Las Vegas. Trees are part of the solution, but we must also invest in structures such as covered walkways and bus stops.

The Head Start Program has been vital for low-income children from diverse backgrounds, regardless of immigration status. Now, the Trump Administration has blocked undocumented children from attending Head Start. This will cause these children irreparable harm.

Yesterday, the Nevada Latino Legislative Caucus, Young Democrats of Nevada, and Asian American & Pacific Islander Democratic Caucus distributed "Know Your Rights" posters. I am so proud of our local businesses who were eager to ensure their workers had the info to protect themselves!

I co-sponsored this bill to ensure that victims of domestic violence will have access to incident reports from law enforcement by written request within 30 days. I commend Gov. Lombardo for signing this bill that will make it easier for victims to advocate for themselves.

Our communities are facing so many problems and Republicans in Congress chose to make a staggering $45 billion investment in ICE rather than help those in need. Hunger and homelessness are policy choices.
