Concerns over pay and display scheme at South Hill Barn car park Seaford Town Council is bringing in a pay and display scheme at a car park near the Seven Sisters.

More entitled drivers whining like toddlers about having to pay to park.
They could walk or cycle to the beauty spot for free of course.

Going up the ‘pool*. (with apologies to Jethro Tull)… Well, that was grim… Having been confined to the Calder valley all week and waking up to a day where all you could see was fog I decided to take a break. But where to? Halfway through the nig…

Today's blog. Sun, sea, trams and far-right politics. Oh, and 'Jethro Tull'. Yep, it has to be #Blackpool... paulbigland.blog/2026/03/05/g...

5/ ..the hwy back to Wisconsin Ave.... but as organizers worked together across the whole city, their strategy changed. They realized each new inch of highway increased the pressure to build the rest of it (that "highway ending onto a city block" problem) and they came up with this new slogan.

1/ The person in 1968 who held this poster helped give us a robust metro system and preserve DC/MD neighborhoods. This is from @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social's collection of Emergency Committee on the Transportation Crisis materials - a local anti-highway movement.

During the Second Reading of the Representation of the People Bill, MP after MP got up to point out what's missing from it: fixing the voting system.

The problems with FPTP can no longer be ignored - and neither can the growing calls for PR. 📣

Here are just a few highlights:

This is incredible. UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet

Road safety policy…
“Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) said previously it could not fund the entire £75,000 crossing as it does not count as a priority as no-one had yet been killed or seriously injured at the site”

how many KSI does it take ?

Watch 👀 as drivers mount the pavement where a young mother pushes a baby, 20 metres from a primary school. This is normal in Birmingham. It’s the kind of behaviour which led to plans for an LTN in this area, which have now been abandoned by the Council after 6 years of development.

Merz says he told Trump behind closed doors that:

(a) any trade deal with the EU is either with Spain on equal terms or not at all, NATO/ defence spending being a matter to address separately;

(b) Trump’s criticism of Starmer is unjustified, the UK plays a strong E3 and defence role.

These people are the absolute pits. Hegseth is utterly despicable. ”They are toast” he says as if he is talking about an opponent in a football game, not mass murder and the displacement of thousands of people
