I wrote a story for this last year! It's well organized, low pressure, and for an excellent environmental cause. Creatives who are animal lovers or naturalists of any kind should defintely apply if you have time to make something this winter.

Ugh, it sucks. At least they can check your social media and contact you via a genuine account if they have doubts. But the whole AI/bot/scammer thing is definitely eroding trust between genuine humans 😔

Thank you for this post! One of the saddest things about this is that years ago a famous author really did email me with supportive words about my first novel. She was genuine and later blurbed my next book. It was so encouraging! Nowadays I'd likely think the first approach was fake 😔

Important reading. I had a similar, yet different, experience where a "well-known author" engaged nicely but slightly weirdly (AI alert!) via social media (fake account) and tried to get me to buy her "friends" books.

Just finished The Bayou by @ardenpowell.bsky.social - delighted that I bought it on a whim when looking for more gay southern gothic after Summer Sons. Very vibey and morally ambiguous. An excellent Halloween treat, and I will for sure be reading again.
