My work Christmas party has the dress code of “dress for a party!” And I have zero clue how to interpret that.

I bought a new merino blend toque at Costco yesterday, and I turned down all the ~demure~ neutral colours in favour of a bright pink one for visibility as a pedestrian, and I still almost got hit by a car walking this morning.

People talk about trying not to put on weight at Christmas, when a Christmas tradition my friends and I share is weighing ourselves on the morning and evening of Christmas day to see what percentage of us is Christmas Dinner. (The goal is to become 10% Christmas Dinner, but the current record is 7%)

Even just a piece of printed paper in Arial font assigning people tables can make a huge difference. It doesn’t need to be elaborate, but just help them out.

I went to one open seating wedding, and it worked because the couple mostly had friends from groups and it was a small wedding at a venue with plenty of space for people to conglomerate around tables with their group. I’ve been to many more with seating charts I’ve been very grateful for.

WPR: seating charts. Stop asking if they are necessary. Yes, it sucks, but don’t outsource that stress to your guests! You are the only thing some of them have in common, help them out. It’s one of the cheapest details that makes the biggest difference.

I used to upgrade every couple of years because phones were improving, but why would I now? I’m an iPhone user who wants smaller, the last upgrade I did was for USB-C. I don’t want a giant AI machine, and they won’t make what I do want, so I’m sticking with what I have.

Idk man, maybe I would buy a new phone if they actually made things I need (SMALLER with the same quality of camera and battery) rather than things I do not want (bigger, now with even more AI!). The only reason I went from an iPhone 13 Pro to 15 Pro was USB-C, and now I’m set.

Update: someone was trying to argue that they could easily pull out of Canada because they have branches in the USA.
