I’ll resist the urge to make the joke about slight return, but I reckon someone else might

I couldn’t cope without Derek on bass. He was/is something else.

We’ve done this before on here, but that Newcastle City Hall show on that tour is a band at the peak of their powers

Too many to choose from! 🀣

Agreed. I still love NGD but gave up on them after Sparkle In The Rain.

It's never too early or late to discuss this magisterial phase

Produced by the late Pat Collier as well. Always a good sign.

I mean if somebody/anybody else out there wants to talk about The Snapdragons' solitary album, 1989's Dawn Raids On Morality being one of THE lost classics, I'm here for it.

I just deleted it. The person had gone within 48 hours anyway so I will never know

I'm guessing it was a bot, or something weird. Why would you contact a stranger like that?

I had a DM the other day from someone deeply fascinated by my endless drivel about cats, defunct indie bands and a ceaseless search for terrible puns. Some of these bots need to get out more.

I recently read Greil Marcus' incredible Mystery Train, which is all about America in relation to its musical landscape, the mythology of the nation and the stories it tells itself about who it is. It's a dense read at times, a real 'ideas' book, but my god, it's fascinating.

I remember watching a really chilling Question Time with the American writer Bonnie Greer explaining that Brits just don't understand the paranoia fuelled by the crap they get fed.

Meat Raffle always seem to be gigging, but are never able to escape the shackles of the pub circuit. Meat Loaf's decision to quit and go solo was the best thing he ever did.

He/they was never really sure, didn't really worry about it, to be honest had a Ziggy streak of hair once upon a long ago. Even finger puppets feel the bony hand of time on their knitted shoulders.

Great to see that rock and roll is still clearly the most-dangerous thing about in 2026

Bathing Suits: The Lexington, London: Live Review Pulsating electronic beats? Check. Atonal, jarring riffs? Check. Surfing the crowd in your knickers? Check. All in a day’s work

The world may be destroying itself, but at least we still have rock and roll, not least the music of Bathing Suits and Doom Club, who I caught below in midweek...

I had a lot of time for them, one of Sheffield’s β€˜lost’ acts.
We supported them once, frighteningly tight as I recall.

Last one, arguably more accessible than Sourpuss, but still great. I listened to it only last week.

Did you ever cock an ear to A.C. Temple, Tony? I had to retro fit to make the Amon Duul connection, but you can see the join. Loved them.
